Three years have passed since the Sewol ferry disaster that claimed 304 lives, mostly high school children. The bereaved families have suffered enormously both due to the event itself and due to an obstructive, authoritarian and ultimately corrupt government.
Sewol disaster third anniversary protest. We have held a silent protest at Trafalgar Square every month since the tragedy on 16 April 2014. This event is expected to be bigger in number, as happened at 1st and 2nd anniversary events, and will be a peaceful and dignified expression of support for the families of Sewol victims. Please join us on 15 April 2017 between 2pm and 4pm; you are welcome to stay for a short time or the whole two hour period. We will have placards available and you are invited to make and bring your own. Children welcome!
Things are happening quickly in South Korea. There are reasons to be optimistic, but not to be complacent.
